Senior Branch Assistant - Coconut Grove

Coconut Grove, Darwin, Northern Territory | Full-time

Are you an experienced branch, trade or customer service professional looking for your next opportunity in a hands-on, customer-focused environment?

Winnchester Consulting is recruiting on behalf of an established national business for a capable and motivated Senior Branch Assistant to join its Coconut Grove operation.

This is an opportunity for someone who can contribute immediately to the day-to-day performance of a busy branch, build strong customer relationships and support a high standard of operational delivery.

The role

Working closely with the branch leadership team, you will play an important role in supporting customer service, branch operations and the overall performance of the site.

This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone who is comfortable dealing directly with customers, understands the importance of strong operational disciplines and is willing to take ownership when required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-quality service to trade and other customers

  • Supporting the day-to-day operation of the branch

  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships

  • Assisting with stock, inventory and general branch operational requirements

  • Supporting sales and customer service activity

  • Helping maintain a safe, organised and efficient branch environment

  • Working closely with the branch manager and broader team

  • Taking ownership of issues and following through to resolution

  • Supporting the team during busy periods and stepping into additional responsibilities when required

The search is focused on candidates with strong trade-facing capability, customer service experience and practical branch operations exposure.

About you

You may already be working as a Senior Branch Assistant, senior trade counter team member, assistant manager, supervisor or experienced customer service professional and be looking for a role where you can broaden your experience and take on greater responsibility.

We would also welcome applications from people working in comparable trade, wholesale or distribution environments who have strong transferable experience.

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience in a branch, trade, wholesale, distribution, hardware, building products, plumbing, electrical or industrial environment

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to build credible relationships

  • A practical, hands-on approach to work

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • An understanding of stock, inventory and branch operational disciplines

  • A willingness to take responsibility and help solve problems

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team

  • Strong reliability and follow-through

  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of customer retention and service

Previous experience in plumbing or trade distribution would be advantageous, although candidates from adjacent industries with strong transferable capability are encouraged to apply.

What Will Make You Stand Out?

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate that they are already operating beyond the expectations of a standard branch or customer service role.

You may already be someone who:

  • Is trusted to take charge when required

  • Helps train or support less experienced team members

  • Handles difficult customer situations confidently

  • Takes ownership of operational issues rather than waiting for someone else to resolve them

  • Understands how branch service, stock availability and customer relationships contribute to commercial performance

  • Is comfortable stepping up and taking responsibility when needed

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This role offers the opportunity to join an established business with a strong national footprint and contribute within a practical, fast-paced branch environment.

It will suit someone who enjoys customer interaction, understands the importance of strong operational standards and wants to work in a role where initiative, reliability and follow-through are valued.

If you are looking for a role where you can contribute immediately, build on your branch experience and take on meaningful responsibility, we would like to hear from you.
